Projects

Gateway Fashion House and Retail Outlet
A further two buildings were donated to create a fashion incubator and a fashion shop. Seven top students from 2008 were selected to continue their fashion studies through live projects set by London Fashion companies. The fashion garments being created are sold both in the fashion shop and locally. All money is put directly back into the fashion house and school. This income is not sufficient in supporting such an ambitious project and the challenges ahead are to source new avenues of both production and financial viability.
Gateway Students to be the next generation of trainers
The success of sustaining this project for the future will depend on the continued level of teaching. Two students from the 2008 cohort were selected to train as teaching assistants to train to be the next generation of fashion instructors.

Student Common Room
A student common room was decorated to provide a space to call home for the students. This has been a great space to promote a vital social network.
Teacher Training Programme
The intention is that the teaching staff, who are now all local, are to sustain both the School of Fashion and the Fashion House. The teacher-training programme will grow as more student teaching assistants can provide vital support to new groups of students. Good practice, teaching initiatives and a workable and validated course is the top goal of all involved, the idea being that the project, to be run independently and self-funding.
UCA Volunteer Graduate Scheme
A UK Volunteer Graduate Scheme will provide the necessary creative skills to a country that needs to be successful in a competitive global market.
